Members of the Society of Senior Ford Fellows were supported by the Ford Foundation with a Ford Predoctoral, Ford Dissertation, or Ford Postdoctoral Fellowship. These senior experts completed their doctoral degree at least seven years ago. (Please see official membership details at the end of this page.)

Annual Membership Needs Based Discount Available

Please use our discount code when completing your membership registration if you self identify as having a need for financial support. This code will provide a $50 discount on the annual $65 membership, lowering the cost to $15 for potential members who need pricing modification: SUPPORTSSFF

Installments by Request

Members interested in an installment plan ($500 per payment) for the Sustaining, Fortifying, or Building Membership may contact our site administrator. For these 5-year memberships, full payment would be due by the end of the calendar year. Should payment not be received in full for this multi-year membership category, membership would be converted to the nearest level.

Supporting Membership - $500.00 (USD) Subscription period: 5 years, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments Supporting membership is available for current and past recipients of the Ford Fellowship who received a PhD at least 7 years ago.

Annual Membership - $65.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st
Your membership renewal date will be: 1 Jan 2026 No automatically recurring payments Annual membership is for current and past recipients of the Ford Fellowship who received a PhD at least 7 years ago.

Affiliate - Free Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments Affiliate status is for current and past recipients of the Ford Fellowship who are not yet eligible to join the SSFF (received a PhD at least 7 years ago). Affiliates do not have voting privileges in SSFF elections.

Membership Details

According to our bylaws:

The Members of the SSFF shall be accomplished scholars who

Have opted in by notification to the Secretary of the SSFF, and
Have been grantees of a Ford Foundation Fellowship and for whom at least seven (7) years have elapsed since receiving the doctoral degree.

The membership shall be maintained from year to year by the payment of designated annual dues or other method established by the SSFF.
Individuals may retain membership as long as they continue to adhere to the Terms and Conditions as defined by the Executive Board.
Any Member of the SSFF may resign upon notice to the Secretary.
Members of the SSFF may be removed for failure to pay dues or for other infringement of the Terms and Conditions through a process defined therein.
All Members in good standing are eligible to vote in SSFF elections and may be elected to office in the SSFF.
The privilege of voting in elections of the SSFF shall be limited to Members of the SSFF whose opt-in notification of membership in the SSFF has been received at least thirty (30) days prior to the date the voter ballots are distributed.
The Members of the SSFF shall not issue any public position papers or statements in the name of the SSFF without approval as described in Article IX (Communications).
